ADN Dominicano

ADN is an acronym for Andullo Dominicano Nacional. The origin of this very potent tobacco can be traced directly to the island's purest ethnic roots, the Taínos and Arawaks. Even in colonial times, this tobacco, due to its particular aging process, was a perfect product for those long voyages from the New World back to Europe.

Andullo is the product of a meticulous process that begins by taking the 5th, 6th, and 7th cuts of the tobacco plant. It is then dried in barns, stripped of stems, and approximately 35 pounds of tobacco are placed in yaguas (the most tender part of the trunk of the royal palm) and tightened with ropes for approximately 3 weeks. This process is repeated about 8-10 times, opening and retightening the tobacco in these yaguas to oxygenate and compact them into their distinctive cylindrical shape.

One of the few cigars on the market featuring Andullo tobacco, this is truly a special blend.

Barrel Aged by Karl Malone

After years of traveling to the Dominican Republic, Karl was introduced to the La Aurora family through a mutual friend. Developing a respect and bond with one another, the families decided it was time for Karl to create his own cigar. Throughout a two-year process with Master Blender Manuel Inoa, Barrel Aged by Karl Malone was created.

The tobaccos are aged six years bulk. Next, all the tobacco, except for the wrapper, are aged in rum barrels for six months to acquire the aromatic notes of the toasted wood that infuse into the product. At this stage the cigars are hand-crafted and once ready they remain in the aging room for another 3-month period to help further deepen the flavors.

The cigars have a rotund start with the predominance of black pepper spice notes, that open up to give way to flavors that are more complex and delicate. The presence of wood is evident during the entire smoke, accompanied by rich, brilliant strokes of cinnamon and dried fruits with a potent, creamy finish.
